Not Our President: An Anthology Benefit for Planned Parenthood + the ACLU

Today is Inauguration Day and it’s a day leaving so many with fear and uncertainty.

In the wake of the presidential election and today’s inauguration we know you have a lot to say, and you want to help. We want to hear your voice. We want to do anything to help, even in a small way.

Cameron Pierce of Lazy Fascist Press and editor/curator of Ladybox Books Constance Ann Fitzgerald are co-editing an anthology titled Not Our President.

Not Our President is a way for the literary community to show our support of POC, the disabled, LGBTQ, women, and anyone else who has been spoken/acted against by Donald Trump and his supporters. 100% of proceeds will be donated and split between the ACLU and Planned Parenthood.

We want your experiences before, during, and after this election. We want stories from your families, friends, neighbors and strangers on the streets. We want your thoughts on what the recent events bring up for you. We want your protest anthems. Most of all, we want you to be heard.

In terms of content, we are looking for fiction (between 500 and 5,000 words), poetry, and essays. Reprints are acceptable. Email submission to notourpresident2017(at) gmail(dot)com.

 – Deadline April 15th 2017 –

Open Call For Submissions: Zine Trio Anthology

Looking for stories about:
1.) bands your exes ruined for you

2.) songs ruined by experiences or people (Like how we all think of that dude getting his ear cut off when we hear Stuck In The Middle With You, but with your own story.)

3.) the loss of your virginity.

Each topic will be compiled into its own zine/chapbook bursting with all the best stories.

This is a Ladybox Books project, so women, LGBTQIA, gender non-binary and POC authors will have priority.

There are no tales too short, if it's basically a tweet, that's okay. There are obviously some stories that are too long. It's a zine. Don't get crazy.

Multiple submissions are okay, and heartily encouraged. (Soft cap at 3 per topic)

Participants will receive contributors copies of the set and retain rights to their words. We just wanna borrow them.

Deadline is 2/14/17 – let your misery, awkwardness, and nostalgia be our valentine!

Direct all questions and submissions to ladybox books (at) gmail (dot) com

Please specify which topic your piece is for in the subject of your email.

Listen Up: Interviews For Your Ears

Recently some of our awesome authors have been guests on podcasts in which you can pick their brains and get to know them a little better as humans outside of their written words.

We’d also like to give a shout out and huge congratulations to Meliza Banales who recently competed in the Literary Death Match in Los Angeles against recording artist Mody and KILLED IT/ absolutely won like we all knew she was going to!
